Our Story
We met on Bumble in 2021, and our first date at Easy Bar on August 18th quickly turned into more than six hours of nonstop conversation and instant connection. As we were closing out our tab at the bar, Corey asked if he could kiss me, our first kiss, and the beginning of everything. From that night on, we spent nearly every day together for the next two weeks and fell in love faster than we ever expected. About a year later, we adopted our first cat and named her Easy, named after the bar where it all began. After moving in together, we welcomed Topo Chico, named after Corey’s favorite drink and a few apartments later, Bear joined our family, named after my childhood dog NOT the Chicago Bears.
Corey proposed on what I thought was just a regular lake day I had planned. I packed snacks, sandwiches, floaties, and drinks for a full day in the sun with our friends. It was incredibly hot, so I spent most of the afternoon in the water while Corey sat on the side, looking absolutely miserable. When I finally climbed out, our friend Margaret offered to take a photo of us. Since Corey usually hates pictures, I immediately found it suspicious that he was so enthusiastic. As we stood at the edge of the drop-off, ready to pose, Corey got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes! When I turned around, I saw my parents, sister, and best friend walking toward us, I was completely shocked. After making them wait in the heat for me to get out of the water, we were all excited to spend the rest of the day together. Corey had planned lunch with our families and drinks with friends at a bar near our apartment, making all the snacks and sandwiches I insisted on packing totally unnecessary.
We always knew we wanted a long engagement with less pressure getting the details together, so we are very excited it is just around the corner. While some of the little details are still coming together we are looking forward to celebrating with all our friends and family.
